Well it's finally over! Can't believe the Incredible time we had! But as my sister pointed out I left out the helicopter ride! I highly recommend a helicopter tour in Kauai. Just getting ready at the Safari helicopter tour office was a blast! Our "warm up guy" Had us in stitches before we even got out of the office! But I think his hair do had something to do with it. If I say "whirlybird" would you get a picture? Judy didn't Help matters with her snorting either. The tour was so relaxed and beautiful! Hard to explain its beauty. We actually went through clouds! And the waterfalls were beyond description !!!! Judy --who was practically in tears at the end said it best: " it was like God was holding me in the palm of His hand and telling me He had some really beautiful parts of His creation to show me". I will never forget that show!
Now some of my thoughts on Hawaii. The Hawaiians are beautiful physically and. spiritually. We remarked often that it is no wonder they are so nice. What could be bad about getting up every day in paradise! Love the church we went to in Hanalei. They were welcoming and gracious and I loved listening to the hymns in Hawaiian! Wish I could speak that beautiful 13 letter language! I will go back (Lord willing) if the opportunity presents itself. Want to join me?
The Hawaiian people have pit up with much abuse and have survived and are still beautiful. Guess we/I could learn a lot from them. As one of my FB friends said MEMORIRS are forever!

Day 8 in Paradise--sad day
Well folks it has finally arrived-- our last day. We're all packed and just moping about waiting for check out. The more adventuresome did the pool and the slide one more time. Pics on FB.
Yesterday we spent our last day in the sun waiting for the luau. It's called the Smith Family Tropical Luau. Now you may ask , is Smith a Hawaiian name? Of course not. Seems great father Smith came here from England and married a Hawaiian and the rest As they say is history. It was wonderful! Roast pig (roasted in a fire pit of course along with a pot of rice pudding), terriaki (sp?), adobo (?) chicken fresh fruits and much, much more! Oh, did I forget to mention poi? During dinner we were entertained with music and hula. After the feast we moved to an amphitheater for much more music and dancing depicting the "Golden Hawaiians-- all those cultures which have blended to make Hawaii what it is. So beautiful. Good way to end the visit.
Heading home with mixed feelings--wanting to stay but wanting the comfort of "HOME" and all that means. Either way this time Saturday we'll be home. Not looking forward to the longnhors before home! Leave 8:41 pm Friday and arrive cincy 3:14 pm Saturday. So I guess we'll be home-home around 6 pm.
After I've had some time to think, I'll post some thoughts on the trip. It's been an AMAZING ride!
Keep our flight home in your prayers. Thanks. Aloha

Day 5 in Paradise
Time just seems to evaporate when in Paradise! Hope I can catch you up.
Momday after watching the sunrise on the beach (hope you saw my picture on FB) we came back and sat around the pool and talked and enjoyed the beautiful Hawaiian sun and conversation with friends. I think I have mentioned the pool here is a meandering "river" that never gets over 4 feet so it's wonderful for water walking, which we did/do.
Mom day afternoon we loaded up the vans and headed for Po'ipo where we boarded the Captain Andy's catamaran for a sunset dinner cruise around the Na'Pali coast. Quite awesome beauty. The captain was very informative and told history and legends about points along the way. At one ot there was a beach with an arch where a scene from Pirates of the Carribean was filmed. Remember that scene?
The front of the catamaran had what they called a trampoline. It actually looked like a trampoline and later we found out it acted like one too! The more adventuresome (including one of our West Va ladies tried it out!). You laid down on it facing forward and let the wave
action bounce you up and down. Looked like fun but I didn't find out. The wave action was something else! Needless to say some of us couldn't stand that motion and were relegated to the rear od the boat and told ti drink a beer and keep you eyes on the horizon! The test of those on board enjoyed a chicken dinner while the ship was under sail and much less " wavy". After we had finished the capt started up the motors again and we headed back to dock. The panorama was quite spectacular and the ride quite an experience!!!!! Never experienced a feeling like that before and don't want to again!
When we got back to the room, it was ramen noodles for me!
Again, please pardon any clerical errors.

Day 4 Paradise
Yesterday of course we went to church. The church was built in the 1700s. It's was a lovely shade of green making you think of the lush mountains here. Google Wai'oli church on Kauai. We stopped on the way home for shave ice and/or ice cream in Hanalei. Such a lovely little town. I think Puff must really live there.
Ate leftovers for lunch then went to Hilo Hatties. If you've ever been to Hawaii. You know what that is--Hawaiian souvenir heaven! Then we went to a park at a beach and just enjoyed the sun, surf and conversation. Ate at East Village-- Chinese--coconut shrimp and hot and sour and soup-very spicy but good. The evening was a " chick night"! We had rented BLUE HAWAII and all (almost) of us piled into Linda's room and watched it and drooled over Elvis!! If you're not a chick, you won't understand!!!! What fun!
This morning we got up at 5:30 and went to the beach to watch the sunrise. PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!
Some day I'll figure out how to add picture here! For now check my Facebook page

Day 3 in Paradise
Today is actually day 4--ok I'm a day late but then again I am in Hawaii!
Saturday we had a LOVELY day--walk on the beach, walked in the "river", sat by the pool and talked, then walked to McDonalds (across the street) for a big drink (drinks Here are a dollar too). Our outing Saturday was a drive up the coast (from the east shore to the north shore). So many movie sites along the way--South Pacific, all Jurassic Parks, Raiders of the Lost Ark and others). Kilauea lighthouse was a beautiful vista with lots of red-footed boobies soaring around. Wai'oli mission house -- where we plan to go to church. There was a wedding there while we there and a craft fair going on in the field beside the church. It rained on and aft the whole time we were on our jaunt! Also saw the beach where they shot the song "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair" but it was raining so we didn't get out. Drove as far on highway 56 as it went--WOW! It ended at a mountain that just suddenly shot up--nothing gradually led up to it. (look at a map of Kauai)
Ate at a really nice restaurant--the Dolphin--but a word to the wise--don't order fish and chips and expect fries with it! Long story. Hanalei is beautiful but sort of ritzy and artsy.
The thing that has impresses us the most about Kauai is the mountainous scenery and lack of commercialism. It feels "real"!
More later. (did not preview so excuse any and all errors!)

DAY TWO IN PARADISE
Oh let's see....awoke to. Beautiful morning, coffee on the lanai with roomies. We all agreed this is the way to start the day! took a walk on the beach. Sand is really coarse and hard to work in. Could"t even walk on the sand near the water even withbshoes on. You could but it was not much fun so we just walked a little, fond some coral, took some picks and came back to the pool. Water wAlked in the "river". It's amazing! There's even a current so you get lots of resistance as you walk, sat and talked for a While. One of the joys of going with a group. You always learn something new about someone! "make new friends , but keep the old....."
Ate our left overs from Thurs night for Lunch, showered and are now ready for our next adventure.
